Vampire Knight Roleplay

Roleplaying Site for Matsuri Hino's Vampire Knight

This discussion is meant for player feedback, so feel free to address any concern or question here. It's far easier to let the Admins know your mind if you post here -- even though the Admins try to keep in touch as much as possible, at times we miss things and we want to minimize that.

Do you have a complaint? A request? A suggestion? Then let us know.

You have an idea for a RP event or a contest?? This is the place to come. If you have a compliment or a complaint about something (admins included) post it here. You have a doubt or need help? This is where you can put all of your questions, queries, debates. Or you just would like to see a new measure implemented -- look no further.

If you notice that a character or a thread are breaking the rules or the canon -- and the admins are doing nothing about it? Then we probably didn't noticed it yet, and you can help us by reporting it -- which will let us solve the matter so much faster.

As soon as the matter is addressed, we will leave you feedback, so you know your requests aren't being forgotten or ignored.

Player suggestions are very important to us, so let your voice be heard.

Regards

(((OOC: Okay I'm just really confused... did I do something wrong? I feel like i'm in trouble because are thread got seperated, but I really did think I was sticking to the rules... well there is the fact that I haven't gotten a message from one of you guys telling me I was wrong.... Just wish I could get some clearification. Thank you, Kera)))

Dear Kera:

By the way, the forums are Non RP territory, so no need to use the ((OOC)) tag.

We apologize for not coming to you sooner, but since the Gamemaster was going to solve this in character, we wanted him to solve things without resorting to warnings. What you did does not break the site rules, worry not, so you're not in trouble.

However, you did do something that, while not going against the rules of the School, does put you in a complicated situation. You displayed a lot of dangerous knowledge about vampires in public, while Night Class teachers and students were in hearing range... and vampires have a very VERY GOOD hearing range. Which meant, they suddenly became aware a Day Class student knew of vampires.

In the Vampire Knight series, Day Class students have been known to become aware of the vampire side of the Night Class. However, whenever the Night Class people or the guardians realize they know of Vampires, they are taken to the Headmaster to be brainwashed into forgetting what they know. Artemis had her mind wiped recently by Kaname, and you're basically going to have yours by the Headmaster (who has done the same to two students in the first volume of the manga).

So no, worry not, you're not going to be reprimanded nor are you getting into trouble - the Headmaster will find an excuse to talk to you, wipe your memories of vampires, and then send you to your dorm.

You will lose all knowledge you have of vampires, I'm afraid.

I hope this helps.

(Concerning Bannable Offenses)

Wow. This is getting rely annoying. I am sorry to be rude but this is slightly over the top. It seems very harsh to be banning people with out consent. I agree with somethings like if RPs don't follow VK. But changing an none-RP to an RP seems rely over the top to be banning them without proper warning. This is a place for fun dn enjoyment, not a place of rules and strictness, or at least it used to be. People don't want to go to another place that has rules people go here to get away from that. I agree they should tell an admin before making major changes but to ban them. What if they didn't read the rule? I know they should have but we come here and expect a good time, we arnt bothered by rules so we need more of a warning. Then if they don't listen then you should ban.

I am one of the oldest members been here sense the site opened. I try to get to know every one and know most of whats going on here. I read the RP's even the ones I'm not in just to see what has been going on. I talk, and fellow members of this site talk to me. They are unhappy with the strictness here. And I don't just mean a few people but more then half. Some of the old members have stopped coming because of this. There was a site made like this one that includes most of the regulars here just because they are unhappy with the rules.

I come here not to criticize, I am just worried that we will louse members and prevent people from coming. I have accepted most of the new things here but I do not like this at all. Again I am sorry if I am being rude, but people are not saying things to the admins and I thought I should. I rely hope this doesn't change your mind about me.

Dear Yuuki

We appreciate your concern, but we have to be strict in certain things. And this is one of them. I'm very sure that taking the time to talk to the Admins and saying "Hello, I decided I wanted to change my profile to RP would you mind checking it out?" is not going to reduce your fun, is it? However, and just to make sure that people understand that "Changing without warning the Admins" is what get you banned, I'll add that note to the bannable offenses. If you want to change your profile to a RP one, and you give warning to an admin so we can check it, you are fine. Furthermore, the Bannable Offenses post IS a warning to people, so technically, they are getting a warning before being banned. However, you make a wonderful point where people might not have read the rule, so I will change that to let people know that instead of insta banning, they MIGHT get banned.

Now, understand where we stand: what we don't want to see is someone joining with a non-RP account (which never gets scrutinized and is accepted without question) and then turning it into a PureBlood, or a Vampire Hunter, or a Cat girl, leaving the Admins at each other throats and going "Who accepted this character?" and the players banging at our door and going "How come Player X has these strange powers and you refused mine?" Admins already have the short end of the straw and wound up being painted as unfair no matter what they do, so we don't need players to start claiming we play favourites.

Secondly, all feedback is welcome, even if it's negative -- neither me or any of the admins would start hating on a player because he speaks his mind. We are the janitors in this house and we live to try and make all of you as comfortable as possible and for that we need player colaboration and feedback.

Now, about the being too strict thing killing the fun -- I'm going to be very very candid. All the rules we have in place are the same. When I was asked to rewrite the rules for the RP and the site, I kept them the same, and only added one or two clarification points.

New restrictions have been appearing (like the restriction on Purebloods and Hunters) but those are made for a matter of "making sense" -- and they aren't forbidding at all (originally, Kaname wanted to restrict the number of purebloods to 5, but now? we have a lot more than that). You have a chance to play them if you try hard enough.

The only thing I can figure out that annoys people and makes them consider us too strict is the tendency we are having to make people facing consequences for their actions -- while playing in the RP groups. I'm sorry but this is a point where we won't budge -- because we are trying to play Vampire Knight here. If you drink someone's blood in the middle of the class, you will get punished for it. If you display knowledge of vampires while being a human, you will be taken to the headmaster to remove your memory. I'm sorry, but this is what happened in the manga.

I really didn't want to say this, because it makes it sound as if I don't want people to play in the groups (which is totally the opposite) but if you want to do things that would get you in trouble in the Vampire Knight world... then don't do it in the RP Groups -- (the RP Groups (the ones marked with RP) . Either create your own group, and there everyone is a vampire or a vampire hunter and they can drink each other's blood in public (and no admin will go near it or intervene, I promise) or keep it to Character Profile Thread RP or IM RP. We only enforce our strictness in the RP groups. Nobody forces anyone to join them to RP.

I hope this helped clarify, and feel free to post any other questions you might have.

Also, after a long consideration, I came to the conclusion you were absolutely right and that banning people over changes to the profile was too harsh. Instead, I reworded my post to request players that they inform the Admins if they're changing their profile.

Thank you for your feedback and I hope this shows we are more than willing to work with players. Any other suggestions you might have to help the players feel more confortable?

For the 'Vampire Level' section on your profile, could one of the Admins please add a option called 'None' ?, because I accidentally clicked on one of the levels, and It won't let me unselect it, and people are getting confused about if I'm a vampire or not, so please, if you could add 'None' to the Vampire Level, I would be greatful.

Also, I completely agree to what Yuuki-san said, the rules are too strict. We don't have as much fun, AND freedom! (Not to sound rude or anything..)

Dear Miku:

Thank you for your input and I'll be adding the "none" level, as we speak.

About the strictness, I would be very grateful if you pointed out exactly which rules are reducing your fun so we could try to ease them and ensure people don't feel oppressed or constricted.

Again, I apologize if we seem overbearing with the Bannable offenses post, but would you like to see a character running around with "I can kill anyone with a single gaze" and see that character trying to kill yours with it? Or a "I can make anyone love me"?

Recently, I had people complaining to me that such a character had been accepted. It caused a ton of grief between me and the other admins, because I was certain I hadn't accepted her so someone else must have had, and it sprung a ton of arguments to who had done it, while players (rightfully) complained it wasn't fair to them.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that if you plan on making big changes on your character (like if it's a day class or a night class etc) you warn us first. We aren't forbidding to change your character: I stated very clearly that minor changes can be done at will without consulting us -- just huge changes that can affect the plot need to be reviewed to ensure there is no discrepancies.

I still feel worried that players feel that they don't have freedom or fun. Can you please specify? I really wish to change this so I need more specific examples, and I'd be very grateful if you could give them to me.

Thanks in advance.

Well what I'm saying is, that the rules are just a little bit to strict, our characters are almost being made for us, we should be able to choose what we want to be, like what exactly is wrong with Catgirls? and Wolfgirls? there just humans with animal ears, tail, fangs, and claws, with a slightly different personality to normal humans or vampires, I really don't know why they are not allowed, I know they aren't "Vampire Knight-like" But just because the anime/manga doesn't have different races, doesn't mean we can't. This is a site, it doesn't have to be exactly like the real Vampire Knight, no matter how hard you try, it won't turn out exactly like it, I don't rekon theres a single user here who doesn't have something strange about them, like most users have powers, or strange colored hair, no one is just a normal student who goes to classes like a normal student does. And I know there are alot of purebloods, 'apparently'. But It's not fair to new members who want to be a pureblood.
I understand you admins here want things to be simple, but I think things should be a bit more.. well.. easier, if you understand what I mean.

I'm not demanding all these things, I just want you to be aware of the things that some users are upset about. They say they are getting told what to do, users should NOT have to completely start there profile again just because one of the powers isn't 'Vampire Knight Like' alot of people are upset about this.

Dear Miku:

Thanks for your input, and I'll try to answer to it as best as I can.

CatGirls and WolfGirls and other stranges things
- Surprisingly, we are ready to allow other strange things than not only vampires\humans. We're actually been considering letting in demons and werewolves and other things that might fit in a setting like VK. We actually have a wolf girl and she will not be asked to change her profile, as far as I know. However, the only thing we ask is that you have a good story. Random Neko Girls just don't fit in VK. However, if someone wants to play a Cat Spirit (which is a cat who has human form) we're fine with it!

Strange powers
- We had to curb the strange powers a bit because it sorta ruined the stories we were trying to tell. And a lot of people had "Insta Kill" powers. Now think someone decides to you that power on YOUR character? Would you like it? I'm sure you wouldn't and for that reason, we had to curb all powers, because if we come down harsh on some, we have to come harsh down on all.

Strange hair colour\eyes
- This is anime. Strange hair\eyes are allowed.

Restarting profiles - We are not asking that they restart their profiles. We are just asking that they adjust them so everyone has an even standing. We give fair warning and quite some time for them to do so. Only those who do not after a while (which we assume is caused due to they no longer playing here) will have to ressubmit their applications.

On Purebloods - I can't stress this enough. EVERYONE. CAN. BE. A. PUREBLOOD. I'm not kidding. Yes, they can. Until recently, the limit for purebloods was 5 - first come, first served. Same with vampire hunters. No limit for it. The only thing in return we ask to be a pureblood is that you prove us that you can RP one properly. I've added two new Purebloods in the last week. I really don't think claiming we prohibit players from making purebloods is at all truthful.

Finally, like I said, complain all you want. This is the purpouse of the Suggestion Box -- to let people be heard.

Okay, I completely understand that, I guess you are right with the Catgirls.

Ah, I thought the pureblood and vampire hunter thing was still narrowed down to a limit, I haven't seen the update.

Yes, I understand the powers, there's a few people on this site who have.. lets just say 'Uber' powers, I'm not sure if they have been changed yet.
..Anyway, I think everything is quite fine now.

(Sorry if some of the things I say are hard to understand, I'm not good with speeches)

Actually, I understood all you said perfectly, and worry not, please feel free to tell us everything that concern us related to the game. As you can see, we want everyone to have fun.

Also, and thanks to your feedback, I added an "Other" option in the origin, so people can choose to be something other than Vampire\Human.

And no, there is no limit to Vampire Hunters or Purebloods (last week a new Hunter joined us). The "Restricted Status" is simply indicating that people need to work a little harder to be them, the same way they have to work harder to be purebloods, that's all.

Dear Liru:

Thank you for your input. I'm going to hand this matter to Himitsu or Kaname because they know far better how to use it than I can.

Best regards
