Vampire Knight Roleplay

It was a beautiful twilight at Cross Academy: The sun was setting against a cloudless sky, birds flitted around overhead, and the weather was at a pleasant mild.

And so it seemed very odd to Nao that there be no one around.

She flicked impatiently at the power button of her camera. There hadn't been a good picture to take in months, as the gray dreary spring months overtook the grounds' natural beauty. But now, as the sun was shining often and the weather was tolerable, it was expected that more people should be out.

Nao strolled in silent circles at the bridge between the Academy and its dorms, hoping an individual of any class might walk by.

As much as she hated posed pictures, she hated even more the thought of empty photographs.

"I need a model..." She muttered under her breath, looking down to see an ant crawling up her pant leg.

Nao snapped a quick photo of the ant and sighed.

"Not good enough."

Nao brushed her choppy silver hair away from her eyes and stared off in the direction of the dorms.

Any moment now... She thought.

A lanky teen stumbled across the grounds, struggling to hold his towers of textbooks and papers together, shuddering under its sheer weight. An ordinary Day Class student, nothing special: Under the awnings of the Academy his hair was ordinary jet-black, his eyes murky blue... Just another scrawny teen.

Until, of course, he entered into full sunlight. Suddenly his hair seemed to set alight, beautiful hues of mocha and auburn red seeming to burn on the tips of his feathery hair, that floated transcendentally in the light breeze. His sweat rolled down, shimmering a nearly invisible prism of rainbow rays before dripping to the concrete. Perhaps, however, Ayumu's most redeeming features were in his eyes: A forbidden lake that not just reflected the setting sun, but captured its rays, and projected kaleidoscope blues. Guarded by the hint of a lethal grey, these eyes were barricaded from letting most people peer into its depths. An Atlantis drowned.

Of course, Ayumu rarely noticed this. He continued walking onwards, his mind already thinking about what dinner he should cook for himself once he got in his room.

Nao caught the quiet remnants of the end of a conversation and looked aloft to find the source. At a distance she noticed a day class couple who seemed to be struggling with a large stack of books. It was cute, she thought, how the boy seemed to be helping his girlfriend carry them back to the dorm. The boy, though small, had a certain brilliance about him as the setting sun beamed against his glowing mocha hair. His eyes seemed as deep a blue as any freshwater lake. Nao almost wanted to swim in them. The girl, bouncing along side of him, was adorned in a plain black dress, though on her it looked like the finest linen. With her flouncy blonde girls streaking in the sunlight she seemed to flutter as she strode.

"I must have them..." Nao laughed to herself.

With her silver hair wisping out of her face by the light breeze and her tie blowing softly without the constraints of her white jacket, Nao casually strolled toward the couple. She seemed intimidating: 6'1" with a nonchalant look upon her face and an air about her that screamed mystery. Of course, mystery was the concept that Nao embodied, adorned in her male night class uniform and with hair cut short.
I am not that I am. She thought.

Coming up behind the couple, Nao coughed slightly to capture their attention

"Please excuse my sudden interuption, but the two of you look very cute together. I was wondering if you'd allow me to photograph you." She said in a melodic male tone.

Nao laughed, pretending to sound as if in mock offense to Maren refering to her as miss, and waved dismissively at the girl.

"Thank you." She began, with a chuckle. "I am Akane Nao, in the male sense. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Kimisaki. Forgive me for fooling you with my appearance, I take greatly after my mother and seem to have inherited her feminine features. She was very beautiful."

Nao hoped that Maren bought into her story and that the male, who had kept silent until now, did the same. She worked so hard to conceal herself and Nao hoped that the Day Class students, of all people, would pay far more attention to the fact that a Night Class student was speaking to them to further analyze her answer. The last thing she needed was a chance of blackmail, as so many others had done before. Friends were risky. She only needed subjects.

Nao laughed at the girls joke. "If it is of no trouble. I understand that Day Class students have to be in by nightfall. I don't want you to be reprimanded by a prefect. And," Nao glanced at the still silent boy beside Maren and remarked, with an accidentally girlish giggle. "I'm not sure if your boyfriend seems up to the task."

Maren had a cute personality, Nao thought. Had she not been a female herself she might have actually found her attractive. As for her male companion, Nao wondered why he kept silent. His level of shyness was cute.

Nao instantly became wary of the girls comment. Harmless be it may, the concept of friendship made Nao uneasy. Her experiences with friends had never been pleasant and the thought that her facade be unmasked did not sound promising. But, keeping her composure, she held up her hands and went into defense mode.

"I'm sorry, how very bold of me to assume things. Its just that the two of you looked like you had such chemistry from where I'd been standing. But, really, you don't need to go out of your way for my artistic... Er..." Nao paused, trying to find an appropriate word. "Urges." She finished, hoping that this would suffice.

But she instantly regretted her reply. It went against her friendly nature to reject someone in such a way, preferring to be the rejected rather than the reject-ee. This innocent girl was obviously interested in the idea of modeling.

"But, umm... Do you own any lolita style clothing? They make fantastic pictures." She added.

"Of Course! I'll be right back, I'll go put one on!" Maren exclaimed and, before Nao had a chance to protest, the girl was already in the dorm.

And Nao was left awkwardly standing with the quiet boy. She began to wistle and rocked back and forth on her toes as she waited for her new friend to return.

When Maren finally resurfaced from within the sun dorm Nao gasped, slightly jealous, at the sight. The dress was beautiful, particularly on her. And the fact that she found one long enough for her height was astonishing.

Nao smiled brightly as Maren approached.

Nao was insanely jealous. How a girl almost her height can pull off looking so feminine was an sight she'd never witnessed before. It had always been her experience that above average sized women were ridiculed for looking so manly, but Nao wondered how this girl still seemed petit even while only being a few inches shorter then herself.

She cursed her own lanky stature.

"Not at all!" Nao replied incredulously. "Believe me, if I looked even as half as good as you do in a dress like that..." She didn't finish.

"Anyway, shall we talk a walk? I think its safe to say this young man might not be joining us." Nao gestured to the boy again. "We can go into town, if you'd like. A tea parlor or some sort of desert shop would be absolutely dollish with that dress..." She trailed off again, trying to adjust her tone of speech. Nao began again, trying harder to be the charming young man she wasn't. "The artist in me has a difficult time controlling his outbursts." She joked.

OOC: This might be my last one for tonight >.< I have to work at the butcrack of day so I'll be heading to bed soon. This has been fun, I'll be on tomorrow for sure.

BIC: Nao couldn't help but feel comfortable with this human who so casually and naively linked arms with a vampire. It was times like these that she was glad her bloodthirsty needs were controllable. The last thing she needed was an outburst. But she couldn't help but feel reluctant as her and Maren began strolling toward the town. She hadn't had a friend in years and was hoping that her cover wouldn't be blown in only the first few days after her arrival to Cross Academy.

"You're very kind." Nao faked a small flirt as realistically as she could manage. "And I agree, it would be quite a scene." And sudden inspiration hit.

"Hey! It would be even better if I had my lighting equipment. It looks like top quality studio lighting. Maybe if we look as professional as possible, people may think we're famous." Nao chimed, excited to be having a real photoshoot. "I'll go get my lights! This will be great."

She began to pull Maren along, but stopped once she realized what she was doing. Brining a human near the Moon dorms was risky, especially at a time of day when they would be out and about. The transition between the two classes was about to take place which meant that both prefects and Dorm Leader Kaname-sama would be there to see her not only skipping class but mingling with a human. She needed a quick excuse.

"Maren," She began, "It would be quite a fiasco if you and I walked to my dorm together, what with the day class girls crowing around. I'd hate for them to be suddenly jealous of you, what with me being a fresh new night class male and all. I've... heard stories..." Nao got quiet. "That most of them are very... fangirlish." She laughed out loud, to make herself appear inconspicuous.

"Um... excuse me, but would you like some help with that...?" said she, a beautiful blonde by the name of Kamisaki Maren.

Ayumu confindently replied, eyes bright and clear, "Ah, it's quite alright, Ayumu is fine... Oh! Nice to meet you! This is Hikari Ayumu, last name Hikari first name Ayumu: He transferred in a month ago, and looks forward to being under your guidance." Alas, Ayumu spoke directly into his pile of books... his voice lost and somewhat strangled. That all too deja vu blanket of thick air surrounded him once more.

He paused quietly, and remained completely silent as the events progressed: something about dressing up, something about modelling. Ayumu tried to fade into the background as he thought silently I can't meet both of their eyes either... Checking roster and identifying Night Class... Ah, a positive match for a Kimisaki Maren and Akane Nao. 5'10" and 6'2", both female. I still don't have enough data collected, so I will remain in observation.

Ayumu looked up a bit as Kimisaki went to get changed, trying to pass off the uncomfortable silence with a prompt, "Ah, one's not sure he's comfortable with taking pictures, especially since... Maren-san's a bit taller than Ayumu..."

Ah, where are my manners? Ayumu set down the pile, leaving a cloud of dust swirling around, a hand extended welcomingly. Nao seems a dependable enough, certainly not like some of the more dangerous vampires. It would be beneficial to become friends with her. A thirty degree bow, and Ayumu chirped somewhat shyly, "Nice to meet you too!" Cocker-spaniel head tilt, right leg kicked back, and a free hand gestured hi. A killer combination that seeks to destroy the enemies guards, some sort of "cute punch" attack.

Ayumu was as flowery as Nao was handsome. His impossibly huge puppy dog eyes stubbornly blue in this light, while the rays of the setting sun stained the tips of his hair a fiery red. His thin frame was fragile, an ivory quill seeming to sway at the slightest breeze. In this waning light Ayumu simply stood there, waiting as Maren came back with her gorgeous lolita dress: bows dancing, velvet glistening, night approaching. Ayumu acknowledged her presence with a small gasp of astonishment, his cheeks tinged rouge in admiration of her beauty.

As beautiful as Ayumu was, he was only in his black school uniform, crumpled and tie ruffled in the likes of scampering scholars that rush out of their dorms with a bagel in their mouths. Ayumu glanced at the other two sheepishly. I can't take a picture with another girl... My benefactor onii-sama is just going to tease me about it, and it'll take a lot of effort on my part to convince him that I'm not going out with her, as kind as she is.

More difficult still would be convincing him that he was the only one for me.

...Wait, has my benefactor even seen me before at school? Ayumu looked up at Nao, "Neh, Ayumu hopes he's not intruding by making this outlandish request." Overcome with shyness, Ayumu had his pale, slender fingers clasped prayer position, and wriggled his butt cutely as he beseeched to Nao, his voice the windchimes of the winds. "He was wondering if it may be too much to ask for a portrait to be sent to someone in the Night Class?" He begged with his wide puppy dog eyes melting and wavering, long lashes quivering like butterflies as he peered through feathered bangs. The hair shone bronze in the setting sun, its edges tinted the delicious color of red blood. That silver edge in his eyes pierced the air with unwavering determination. His pink lower lip quivered seductively, soft as the tiniest of pink rose petals.

The night was setting in fast, the passionate, scarlet sun clutched desperately her hold on the land before the moon, a lonely master of darkness, glides in. Now or never: The prefects were already ushering in Day Students that straggled behind.

Nao raised a quizzical eyebrow at the boy in front of her. Though sincere in his gestures, there was something off about the way he spoke. As if he was not what he seemed. Nao laughed in her own head that the two had such a thing in common.

"You're oddly cute for a boy. If I wasn't a man myself, I might find you attractive." She said, hoping that Ayumu didn't question her further. He spoke as if he knew too much and this scared her. His actions had motivation behind them. Nao could sense it in the emotions her body read from him. "But I suppose it will do no harm to send a portrait to one of my classmates." She smiled, a lie.

Nao promptly turned her attention to Maren, still blushing at the thought of too much attention.

"I'm sure you'll do fine. Its easy to get over the fear of attention. You just pretend to be someone else." Nao winked. "Now then, the two of you wait here. It would cause much harm if Dorm Leader Kaname-sama were to find out that the two of you were aiding me in the skipping of classes."

With that, Nao turned on her heels and strided toward her dorm where the day class girls were already being herded to the side by prefects. She ignored the stares and gasps from students as she passed; the giggles and whispers of the day class girls floated in the air behind her, leaving behind a shroud of curiosity as Nao passed. Her disguise was perfect. A man. Nobody would pay negative attention to a tall slim cut male with white hair. But a girl? It would attract the wrong attention. If Nao were to walk past with her skirt too short and her jacket not long enough to reach her wrists, what would these people be saying? Surely not, "Who's the cute new boy? I wonder what his name is? Oh, he looked at me! He has such handsome features." but "Why is she so tall? Her clothes don't even fit. She looks like a man."

It was hard to remain in cognate as a female. But as a male, nobody questioned her.

"Shouldn't you be heading to class, man?" Asked a generic night class boy.

Nao chuckled. "I seem to have forgotten my school books. I'll be right back out."

The answer seemed to suffice and Nao proceeded to her dorm room where she rummaged her lighting equipment out of the closet and made her way back outside. She waited at the door for a moment, wishing that the rest of the Day Class would clear out. Nao regretted leaving her new friends standing out in the dark, but the scary prefect managed to chase off the rest of the Day Class and Nao returned to them.

"I've got it all." She said to Maren, who stared at the lights timidly. "Shall we?"

Another smile, and a graciously sincere, "Thank you, you're pretty handsome yourself."

As Nao strode away, Ayumu picked up the top book from that tower of books by his side, and quietly read while busying himself with sewing. Needle and thread in a case in his pocket and scrap fabric in a corner of his briefcase, Ayumu is always ready to impossibly multitask. Ayumu finished just in time, since the prefects started rounding up the day class students. Ayumu was no exception, and had no method of escape especially since the occurrence of THAT incident. Ayumu smiled to Maren, bade her goodbye with a black kitty plushie, complete with a red bow on its collar and white wings sewn on the back. Ayumu left behind an identical plushie for Nao too, and a quickly scrawled message,

"Hi Nao-san!

One is forced to leave. He apologizes in advance for this inconvenience, and he hopes that he may meet again some time soon for the portrait.

- 光歩夢

P.S. Forgive him, but Ayumu thinks YOU'RE the one that should be modeled"

Ayumu was forced to tag along, having picked up his heavy tower of books with him into the dorms, balancing his items while other students pestered him for help with homework and housekeeping/dancing/flower arranging advice.
