Movement could be detected through the many alleyways of the small city that surrounded none other than Cross Academy. Vampires flocked to the school, humans longed to be accepted, and the hunters did only what could be expected of them. On first glance, the town would seem completely safe, but could anything really be considered as such?

Screams could be heard in the background, one male, one female. The scent of human blood sweeping through the air. . . A thirst quenched, or so one would hope. Two bodies would be found later on, hopefully one of the last two in a long list.

A figure dark and lithe emerges from the dim alleyway. Fangs bared, eyes glowing a deep shade of red. This vampire, though nameless had been on the lists of the Hunters and the Vampires alike for the past few days, his mission still incomplete. His task at hand still one that he could shake off.

"All must die." Could be heard coming in a deep raspy voice. The wind letting it pick up the scent of a human towards the East. The wind picking up as the Level E begins to move.

Masumi wasn’t too far when she heard the screams of both male and female tone. Running towards the sounds, she knew that she needed to catch up with the cause. She had been warned that there would be an attack tonight, but couldn’t do anything to stop it. She had no other way of locating the beast causing terror to run through the town without allowing it to kill once again.

Looking at the paper that described her next assignment, Masumi scanned the area. She wasn’t used to the town very well, but she was doing her best to get used to it. Yet another Level E was had been located within the town it was her orders to kill it before the vampires in the nearby school got to it.

She didn’t know the reasons behind the Vampire’s Association obsession with killing the Level Es before the vampires had gotten to them. Was it not the vampires that were at fault for creating the beasts? If a person went by that Vampire Hunter’s were not needed.

But it was your ancestors who took part in eating one of them.

Masumi took a deep breath, trying to clear those thoughts from her mind before she continued. Her hand reaching for one of her guns, the other reaching for a few needles. It was a Level E she was after, an insane vampire that could no longer be allowed to live.

The smell of blood filled the air as she turned a corner, almost causing her to scream at the sight. She heard the thing say something and start to move; shooting off a bullet aimed directly at its heart.

The Level E watched as the bullet that was aimed at its own heart was shot from what looked to be a young girl. Dropping to the ground immediately, the bullet barely grazing his shoulder before puncturing the wall behind him.

The wound burned and it was enough to make the vampire scream out in pain. But the girl hadn’t shot a second one, the one that would kill the vampire off without a doubt. A second shot aimed at the head would kill off any Level E, with how much blood had seeped into the air surrounding them, the girl had the possibility of taking on an inexperienced Level C.

“They all must die.” Could be heard escape the Level Es lips as it struggles to breathe in air. Running around the corner of the building and grabbing a girl off the street, and stealing away into another alley. Even in his current state, he knew that the only way to heal was to drink the blood of a human.

Holding the girl in his arms, he sat in the corner, his glowing eyes watching the entrance to the alleyway while his tongue caressed the young girl’s neck, his fangs sinking deeply into her soft skin as his hand covered her mouth.

It was a blatant fact that vampires were the stronger of the two species. Even with what the Hunters gained from devouring one of the Purebloods, even if they had fallen to the state of a Level E, hesitation could only lead to one place. . . Death.

You don’t want to kill, but if you don’t it will only lead to the death of others.

Masumi watched as the bullet slid across the vampire’s shoulder, its blood filling the air as it avoided the attack, the weapon in her hand shaking, her entire body shaking. She heard the vampire scream out in what could only be pain, as it fled the area muttering only one sentence that strengthened Masumi’s resolve.

You have to kill it; that comes with your title as a Hunter.

Why was she hesitating? Even after the conversations she had with other experienced Hunters. Even after all the training sessions she went through with Satoru, why couldn’t she pull the trigger a second time?

Because you’re still taking a life.

No matter how much she tried to justify what she was doing, she couldn’t do it. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she was now determined, she had to kill this thing. If she didn’t, it would only kill again and again. It had already lost its mind, so why should she feel sorry for it? Even if it once had a life, the human it was no longer existed.

Running after it she could smell fresh blood in the air, and could feel the presence of the Level E. Turning down another abandoned alley, she froze at the sight in front of her. The vampire was drinking from a small child. A child!

“Stop!” She practically screamed as she shot off another bullet aimed at the vampire’s shin. Simultaneously taking out a needle at which she aimed at the side of the vampire’s neck. She had to kill it, but with the human in its arms, she couldn’t just shoot off randomly. The bullets were unable to explode in a human’s body, but they could still be shot like a regular gun.

A smile appeared on the Level Es face as it jumped once again from the corner of the alleyway, holding the young girl’s body in his arms. Narrowly escaping the death sentence the Hunter before him had placed on his head. Both the bullet and the needle clicking against the brick buildings of the alley surrounding them. It could only believe that the Hunter was no match for his supremacy, he could only imagine that the Hunter didn’t stand a chance against what he had become.

Its eyes were wide with excitement, for someone to be able to tell it was a human would’ve been a miracle. It had truly lost its mind, the brain barely able to make out simple things. The basic instinct of wanting to live being at the forefront of his mind. He couldn’t die yet, not until his mission was finished.

“They all must die.” Came slithering from his mouth as he heard the girl in his arms moan in pain; the disgust in his face becoming evident. With a twist of his hands, the sound of bones breaking could be heard, loud and clear. The girl’s dropping to the ground.

Lifeless. . . Dead. . .

Its blood red eyes shot up at the Hunter who had fired the shot from her gun. Not recognizing what she was holding, he lunged from the wall, his arms stretched out in front of him, the claws that had once been hands reaching out in front of him as though he wanted to rip off her head.

Hearing the bullets and needles hit the wall, Masumi knew that she had missed, but couldn't help but watch as the body of the small girl hit the ground. It was a horrible act, done by the creature in front of her. The thing had taken a life right in front of her eyes, and she couldn't stop it.

Shooting three shots from the gun, Masumi stumbled back against the wall. Was this thing truly a vampire?

A vampire showing it's true nature. This is what you have to kill!

Getting her senses knocked back into her, she moved her body to the girl on the ground. There was no doubt in her mind that she was dead, but she couldn't be sure. She didn't have time to properly check for signs of life while she was still fighting for her own.

"Who are you trying to kill? Why do they deserve to die? She said as she stood once again. She couldn't think straight, she couldn't bring her mind to believe that the girl deserved the fate that she had received. Why was the vampire so set on taking the lives of what he was once upon a dream?

It's simple; so simple that you are unable to see it.

"Why?" She whispered as she leaned her back against the wall. Her gun still raised in the Level Es direction.

He could hear the first shot that the girl made from the gun, and twisted his body midair as a way to avoid the bullet, but that seemed to be a mistake that would ultimately cost him his life. As his body twisted he could hear two more shots fired from the gun, both hitting the lower part of his left side. His arm automatically reaching to cover the place where the bullets entered his body.

"Who are you trying to kill? Why do they deserve to die?" He could hear the girl say, pain obvious in her voice. She must've been confused, must've been scared, but she was just like him.

A murderer. . .

"There isn't anything to explain.Every single one of them, the ones that-" He had started to say, but cut off, coughing up the thick, dark liquid he was just lusting for. He didn't try to move, it hurt him enough to just breathe, the intake of air audible, his exhale labored. From the corner of his eye he could see the girl, the weapon she held still pointed at him. He could feel his eyes return to their natural shade of brown, the feelings of insanity leaving his body, and while he knew it wasn't possible he felt as though he was himself once again.

"Thank you." A small whisper came and with one last sharp intake of breath, his eyelids closed and his once accelerated heartbeat faded away. If there was anything that could be considered a beautiful death, this one was certainly far from the target. A blood stained alley, not only one life lost, but two. The alley turned into nothing more than the final resting place of a human that would have no remains.

Decaying to nothing more than dust. . .
