Yagari could feel the presence of vampires all over the place. If he hadn’t been at the Academy to watch over Zero, exterminate him if needed, he wouldn’t find himself in the position he was in.

“An introduction seems like a stupid formality to me. You know my name, I don’t need to know any of yours, so lets begin.” He started, a dark laugh coming from him as he thought of how stupid the idea of teaching “Ethics” to a bunch of beasts was. The things in front of him didn’t care to know right from wrong, they were predators and humans were their prey. Their views had to be just as warped as his own.

He looked at the faces staring back at him. If they weren’t blank with apathy, they showed a tinge of anger from them. Everyone knew what he was, everyone knew from his name that he had slaughtered more of their kind then they could even claim to know.

Just an Introduction. . .

“Which one of you can answer this question for me--?” He started, but paused as a knife flew through the air directed at his head, dead center of his blind spot. His hand flew up with the textbook sitting on the desk in front of him, if he had been a normal teacher, the attempt at assassination could’ve been successful, but in this case it merely failed.

“What is Ethics?” He questioned, looking at the bloodthirsty fiends in front of him. He would admit that they were different from the varmint that he hunted in the dark alleys of the country, but that was beyond the point of the matter. If they didn’t exist, the world would be a better place. He had to believe that.

He would never understand Kaien’s pacifism, why he wanted to be able to exist with monsters such as the ones in front of him, but he had his duty to attend to. Zero was his priority, this little distraction nothing more then means that would allow him to remain on campus.

She sighs. Another pointless subject. Ethics. Why does such a school subject exist? It's pointless, pure pointless. Everyone has a different view on things. It's like saying 'What is right or wrong, liking a cat more than a dog, or liking a dog more than a cat?' Personally cats win in Alice's mind, but that's not important.

She watches the knife, slide past her eyes, targeted at.. What's his name again..? oh, that's right, Touga Yagari. who seemed to avoid the knife in ease. Odd. Normally a teacher would of been successfully killed. Is he a Vampire Hunter? or even a Vampire himself? she was rather impressed by this teacher, as he acted like nothing had happened. Perhaps he was used the attempts of being murdered? Nonetheless, Alice didn't care.

She listened to his question, 'What is Ethics?'

Simple. Alice slowly moved her hand, raising it above her head with a gentle smile, who was sitting at the very front row of the class. She knew the answer. Ethics is based on the idea of 'Right or Wrong' Breaking into a house is wrong. Stealing a car is wrong. Ect.

Her eyes were stuck on Yagari, no sign of hatred was expressed. As she felt none towards him. Yet.

Ruka had her back to the front of the classroom. She wanted to ask a classmate something. When the knife flew at the "teacher" she turned to face forward. She raised an eyebrow and then frowned when he successfully dodged death. "Pity." She sighed. Really, she didn't understand why they were having actual classes. What did they have to learn? Kaname seemed to be paying attention though. Which undoubtedly meant that she should as well. At least she'd pretend that she was paying attention.

She put her elbow on the desk and held her slightly tilted head in her hand. She gently thought of every vein and artery in Yagari's body. A vampire's daydream. Surely they were pumping the most delicious blood. When she got down to thinking about the capilleries she almost drooled. She would have, if she wasn't a noble. What glorious revenge it would be to kill hunters. Afraid that her blank stare might have changed during her daydream, Ruka yawned, politely delicately covering her mouth.

Ethics.... he should be one to talk about such things. Murderer.

He knew what to expect when he had taken a position to teach at this school. Especially to teach such creatures as the ones that filled the room around him. He recognized a few of them, some of them lucky that they weren’t already on his list.

Most of the things in front of him didn’t seem to be paying any attention at all; the ones that were didn’t seem interested. He really was wasting his time, what could he teach these things when his morals were certainly different than their own. He watched as a few students raised their hands to answer his question, but the only one seemed to not have the smirk of superiority on her face. A girl with hair the color of snow. Her eyes a deep cerulean much like his.

He looked around the room again, noticing a few death glares from a few of the students. Of course they thought it was ridiculous that he was teaching them this. Another vampire, another monster would’ve done a better job.

“What is ethics?” He repeated himself with a small smile on his face, a laugh escaping him. Confusion perhaps? He looked at the girl who hadn’t taken her eyes off of him since he had started; his face became as cold as a stone in the middle of snow. “This concept is different to everyone, but please explain your opinion.” He said as he leaned against the board behind him.

Alice lowered her hand and rested it on her lap as the other hand did. "Ethics.." She starts, her beginning voice sounding rather quiet yet clear, the next was her normal polite tone. "To me.. It's usually to do with my feelings telling me which is right or wrong." She pauses and takes a breath. "Like say.. some vampires would assume drinking blood is right. While some humans would think of it as wrong." She smiles lightly. "But as you said. The concept is different to everyone. "

Alice knew she could have explained it far better, but she hesitated. The glares from the other students made her feel uneasy. It was like if she said anything to this..teacher she would be disliked, not that Alice cared. "..You could take the classroom as an example. Some of..." She pauses and raises her hand to gesture over to the glaring students. "..Them, Think it's wrong for you to be teaching. While maybe some of us think it's fine. In other words right." Alice finishes lowering her hand back down again.

Did she piss the students off? In honesty Alice was rather fine with him teaching. Whether he was a Vampire Hunter or a normal human. Where it may be strange for a Vampire Hunter to teach Vampires ethics; she would enjoy to hear his opinion about it. She had no hate against it. She could care less if he killed the same race as her own, as vampires did the same to the humans. Maybe it was a good idea for a Vampire Hunter to be teaching Vampires.

Ruka listened to the silver-haired vampire pour honey into Yagari's ears. It made her smile, what made her smile even more was her uneasiness. It almost made her want to take the vampire girl under her protective wing. So that's what it's going to be then. It's ok, miss Alice, she thought. I'm here. Ruka sat still in her chair, her tea-rose eyes were the only thing that moved between Yagari and Alice and back again.

"Perhaps it is right that we teach each other about such things." Ruka offered. Although she had some compassion for Alice, this was not going to be a one way street. If a vampire hunter was to teach ethics then the vampires would teach him honor and decency. A dangerous rage stirred just beneath the blanket Alice had put on her.

Killers teaching killers. Would this really accomplish anything? Ruka would play along with Kaname's wishes, the only wishes she would obey. Still... if someone not in the Kuran group killed Yagari, she wouldn't mind. The ends of her lips suddenly upturned in a wicked smiled.

Sayomi glared out the clear window, holding her head up with her right hand. A delicate sigh escaping her. She returned her attention to the "teacher", when the knife was thrown at him. Unfortunately he deflected it with a text book. She giggled slightly, sitting up. Maybe this class wouldnt be so boring after all.

'What is Ethics?' She heard him ask. His voice was deep, rough. His name Touga, Yagari... a vampire hunter. Sayomi had memorised all of the.. vampire hunters in the area. Her parents forced her to, so she would know who 'Not' to mess with.

'What is ethics?' Sayomi thought. She really had no idea, and never had a reason to look it up. This being the reason she wanted to take the class. Maybe ethics would be something interesting to learn about.

Sayomi looked over at one of the students, as she slowly raised her hand. 'Ethics..' The girl paused, hesitating. This would be good. Sayomi leaned back over her desk, holding her head up with her right handonce again. Waiting for the rest of the students response. 'To me.. It's usually to do with my feelings telling me which is right or wrong.'

'Is that what ethics really is. Well that seems like a waste of time...boring' The rest Sayomi just ignored rolling her eyes as she went on and on. It was quite annoying actually. A couple of yawns came from her, Sayomi held her tiny hand over her mouth as she did. 'Is this vampire a teachers pet.' Sayomi had never heard of such thing. It was strange.

Leaning back onto the board, he listened to everything she had said. She was right, in a sense. Beings of different backgrounds believed different things. She had even said that some of her peers might not think that it was ‘wrong’ for him to be teaching the class. From the expression on her face, she must’ve included herself in that group.

He turned his head and picked up a piece of chalk, beginning to write as she spoke.

Ethics: The difference between right and wrong.
Ethics: The study of morality.
Ethics: The philosophical study of the difference between right and wrong.

He removed the chalk from the board, and turned back around as the girl was finishing her explanation. Another girl turning to join in the conversation. This entire school seemed to be filled with vampires of Noble background; their families making them flock because a few of their leaders had elected to attend here.

“We’ll teach each other indeed.” He said, it was a possibility for him to learn something from them. He wasn’t so arrogant as to think that he knew everything there was to know in this world.

His eyes flickered to the back of the classroom. A blond vampire sat there who seemed as though her thoughts were somewhere else. He didn’t care whether or not the foul beasts paid any attention to what he was saying. Him teaching this subject to the class was only a condition that he needed to uphold to remain at Cross Academy. With that being said, he also felt as though the students shouldn’t attend if they didn’t plan on listening to whatever others had to say.

“Does anyone disagree with these definitions?” He asked as he stared out at the ominous eyes that glared back at him.

Ruka looked steadily at Yagari's face. She noticed the scar on his chin. How did he get that? From killing one of us? It took all of her strength not to slam her hands down on the desk, get up and walk out. Oh Kaname-sama, what are you making us do? I would walk through fire for you... but this? This man could have you on his hitlist at any moment. And what if you're on it right now? Oh Kaname... this man...

Ruka visibly balled her delicate elegant hands into fists and placed them gently on the desk in front of her.

"How does ethics play into the choosing of those you kill?" Her words came out calmly but were edged with deep acid. Ruka was unsure of what kind of response this would get from her classmates. Would she be applauded or scorned for asking such a bold question. And did she care? No, she didn't. Surely though, she would catch flack from Kaname Kuran for it. But even then, this was too far... he was letting it all go too far. Not only did she have to tolerate humans being around, and drink water with tablets that tasted like ash, but now she had to sit and be taught by some vampire hunter who could want to kill Kaname? Did he realize what he was doing?

And if she did catch flack from Kaname, perhaps then he'd at least pay attention to her. It was a sad thought, pathetic. She felt pathetic suddenly. Ruka relaxed her fists. Her eyes softened and saddened. She returned back to her demure outward appearance.

The class had interested Haruka from the moment she had set foot in the classroom.

Seating herself behind the desk nearest the window, Haruka watched as most of the Vampires began to converse with themselves. She couldn't see how the teacher - Yagari - would be able to control them; even though they weren't trying to kill him, they were still not taking into account what he was trying to portray.

However, the blond had thought too soon; a knife had suddenly lunged towards the teacher, and he swiftly extracted a book from his desk to repel the weapon, preventing the dark-haired male from getting hit.

She knitted her fingers together and placed her hands underneath her chin, her eyebrows raised and a smirk resting on her lips. 'What wonders never ceased ...'

She then listened to the discussion he had started with some measure of indifference; like most of the Vampires (and possibly Yagari himself) she found it ironic that he had to teach the Night Class the meaning of Ethics ... What would they achieve from this, apart from a bigger desire to kill the Hunter undoubtedly responsible of the death of many of their kind?

She then glimpsed the words on the board. In her opinion, that was exactly what Ethics meant. But, the words that came out of Ruka's mouth surprised the blond:

"How does ethics play into the choosing of those you kill?"

She then turned her head back to look at the teacher; like most of the class, her attention was finally focussed on the discussion.

'Bravo, Ruka, for being so bold ...'

"We’ll teach each other indeed.” She heard Touga say. 'Yea right. What could a bunch of vampires teach a lowly vampire hunter' It really made no sense. Sayomi vaguely listened as the vampire asked if anyone disagreed. Like it mattered anyway.

"How does ethics play into the choosing of those you kill?" Sayomi slowly sat back up, suprised that Ruka would ask such a question. She didnt know much about her, other than her family being noble of blood. Sayomi giggled again as she played with a few strands of her blonde hair. Now staring at the "teacher", waiting for his response. How would he answer a question like that? A grin resided on her face at the anticipation of his answer.

Yagari could only expect to be asked the question that the girl with the long brown hair had asked. He had prepared himself to have to answer that question, it would’ve been foolish to believe that it wasn’t something that crossed their minds.

“Ethics plays a big role in selecting the vampires that are to be killed.” He started, still leaning on the board behind him. ‘I don’t choose whom I’m going to kill. I merely kill the ones that are on my list.’ He thought to himself. His job as a hunter was to protect the human race, to dispose of the ones that were deemed dangerous. Every once in awhile they made mistakes, they killed a vampire that wasn’t meant to be on the list, but it wasn’t like his race went on slaughtering unnecessarily.

“Do any of you believe that it is ethical to allow a vampire to live that has lost its mind? Do you believe that it is ethical to allow that vampire to go on harming, killing innocent humans? It’s not their fault that they became that way, but that doesn’t mean that they can be allowed to go on living without a consequence.” He continued.

“Perhaps the consequence should be put on the group that made them like that." He finished knowing that he was stepping a little out of place. Knowing that a statement like that would anger a few of them even more than they already were.

'It is a known fact that the only reason a vampire can fall so low is because of your almighty purebloods.' He thought as he stared at them. He’d deal with them when the time came, but what he said was true. The Level Es that he disposed of were the products of purebloods that either couldn’t control themselves, or didn’t care enough to control themselves.

Rima sat at the back of the classroom, barely noticed by the rest of the students. She listened to everything that had taken place; from the silver haired vampire that had answered the first question, to Ruka’s twist, not really caring about what was being said, not caring about what was happening, until she heard one vampires statement.

"All in all purebloods in general are not ethical." Rima heard a girl with black hair say. She had never met the vampire, but could tell that she wasn’t of natural birth. She was one of the few Level D’s that had somehow managed to be accepted here. Why any of them would want to come here was beyond her.

All Purebloods?

10 Purebloods attended the Academy; if they “In General” were unethical beings, then why was the Academy still standing? Better yet. . . If Purebloods were unethical beings, how was the human race able to survive without being enslaved?

It was natural for a D Level vampire to feel that way. There was a miniscule amount of truth in her words, an amount that more likely than not wouldn’t be acknowledged by the vampires around her. That was what the class was for. . . Right?

“In general?” Rima said, her voice barely high enough for the people around her to hear. She wasn’t planning on changing the girl’s mind, it didn’t matter to her if the girl died thinking that way.

“A vampire that has lost its mind doesn’t deserve to live. Their existence is merely a mistake to society.” She said, her voice empty of emotion, her cerulean eyes staring at the teacher at the front of the room.
