The World: When Earth's population drastically increased, humanity led by the United Nations attempted to colonize Mars. During the colonization, they discovered two alien technologies: the Bacillus and the Crusnik nanomachines. The colonists installed the Bacillus in their bodies which transformed them into vampires

Continuing wars on Earth eventually led to "Armageddon", and the colonists returned to Earth to help with rebuilding, but when the colonists returned to Earth, a war broke out between the Methuselahs and the humans who had remained on earth.

At the start of the story, the vampiric Methuselahs, still a major political and military force, continue to wage war on the "Terrans", as they call regular humans. The Roman Catholic Church is a major military power determined to protect humans from the Methuselahs, with its seat of power based in the Vatican. The Methuselahs have their capital of Byzantium, which is surrounded by a field of particles to filter out UV radiation, protecting the Methuselah population.

Both groups use "lost technologies", such as airships, missiles, and computers, to engage in a cold war with one another. A third great power, Albion also plays a role in the war with its superior arsenal of lost technology and weapons and higher level of manufacturing ability versus the Vatican.

We're making a mix of both TB and VK, so the vampiric nature\levels of the latter still exist, as does the powers and differentiation of vampires.

Current Characters (More will be added if more people join):
Valizh Rosecross, aka Nightmare. A high ranking Methuselah member of the Rozenkreutz Order, he deserves his nickname, for the mention of his name alone is enough to send fear into the staunchest heart. Merciless, cruel, and deadly effective, he carries out the missions his superiors hand to him without hesitation -- especially if he has the chance of striking at the hated Vatican. His powers are many, and his reach almost all-encompassing.

Tsukiko Ashley-Croft - The Vatican keeps a group of trained warriors they call "Special Circumstances". Also known as Tetagrammaton Clerics, they are an order of clerics in charge of keeping the records and the secrets of the Vatican and protect them with their own lives. Seldomly do they leave the confines of their monastery, where they train and read. However, when there is a "Special Circumstance" they can be called -- their skill and ferocity is unmatched. Tsukiko is one of their finest warriors, a First Class. But she is more than that, even if she doesn't know it. She's Patient Zero. When she was just a child, she was attacked by a level A -- she survived miraculously, and was administrated a test drug that the Vatican was developing at the time. And it halted her transformation into a vampire -- the Vatican now hopes they can reproduce the results -- and more, make it so as they can revert vampirism and even eventually use it as a weapon against vampires.

Kyle Eckes - Codenamed "Ghost", he is an oddly desensitized sniper with a rather odd outlook on life. While his companions favored the almost hand to hand form of combat of the Tetagrammaton Clerics, he had developed his own adaptation to the style capable of being used with his rifle at close range if need been, by focusing in on predicting movements to pinpoint his targets exact point of entry. His nickname was derived form his tactful skills at killing targets before they even knew they were under attack.

Seiryu Akatsuki - he is the strongest Methuselah the Vatican has ever faced, and yet he appears to be as gentle as a lamb. The circumstances that led him to their door are complicated, and even though he is tolerated, they will never be so complacent as to let down their guard around him, however benevolent he may seem. Among the Methuselahs he was once the equivalent of Royalty, now he is content to the be the benefactor of a young girl poisoned by the bite of one of his own kind. The highest levels of the Vatican despise him, seeing him as the wolf in sheep's clothing, though they dare not dispute what fortune has led him to lay down his weapons and swear the highest oath to a young Tetagrammaton Cleric known as Jezebel. He is old enough to have seen centuries pass, and was known among the Methuselah as a warrior of the highest order, and was widely known as the "Swordsage" for his skill with a blade. These days he helps to maintain the records in the Cleric's monastery and living a relatively spartan lifestyle, his devastating powers kept in check by a long forgotten mystic artifact called the Eye of Amatersau, kept in his chest. His little human whom he plays benefactor too has been given control of the seal, and regulates his power as needed. All in all it may be boring, however as a matter of honor, he will not abandon his oath.

"Identification: Ashley-Croft, Tsukiko; Special Circumstances, First Class. Password: YHWE-2012. Codename: Jezebel"

There was a breep, an a metallic voice answered: "Identification accepted. Subject on file. Access Granted."

A pring and the heavy door opened, revealing the briefcase they were supposed to transport to Rome, a ritual that she was used to since she... well, since she had come to Special Circumstances. Every six months or so, a team was sent to gather the briefcase with the papers, and then transport it to the heart of the Vatican. The team varied. Except for her. She always accompanied it. And recently, she had begun to wonder why. She hadn't asked, of course. Mother Superior would be most annoyed if she had, but now, she had to notice how she was the constant element of that equation.

She sighed, it wasn't her place to ask questions. She had to follow orders and that was it. The sooner they did this, the sooner they'd return and she could go back to her books and manuscripts. She liked her quiet life, between books and combat training, and the outside world held little fascination, especially now with the rebuilding and the constant wars.

The group of clerics, in their sober, almost military like, trenchcoats moved as one as they boarded the large flying vessel. Despite the discreet outfit, they were still drawing attention, so maybe it was a good thing that that flight was nearly empty. The case would be placed inside a vault, with two of them to guard them at all times. After taking care of that, Tsukiko found herself with a few hours to spare, until her shift, and she couldn't but wonder what'd be like if she had the chance to visit the world as a civilian. Maybe visit Alexandria, where they said there was an amazing library -- Mother Superior kept saying she should take some holidays, so maybe this was the proper time.

Powerful engines made the entire craft shudder, as it slowly and majestically rose in the air. Tsukiko shivered. There was somethign wrong about so many tons of ship to take flight so easily. It felt counter nature. She didn't want to show weakness, so she walked inside, away from her companions to try to gather her thoughts.

She had a bad feeling about all of this.

He sighed, the sun was finally rising and he watched it through the polarized window of his room. How he longed to see the sun rise without the benefit of the hazy window to shield his eyes and body, centuries have passed, and yet he is no closer to that sun. In any case, it is now time to 'wake' even if the night had been spent in quiet meditation rather than 'sleep'. He stands in a liquid ripple of perfect motion, crossing the room barechested so that he might dress in the silly little clothes he has been given. The light glints along the circular brass contraption that sits over his heart, 4 inches wide, made of rune carved brass with its barbs deep in his chest. Humans were so untrusting, he had came before them and made his oathe, and yet they still insisted with the Eye of Amaterasu. With it in place, his own natural energies were forced in a counter clockwise rotation, rather than his natural clockwise rotation. It was annoying, as it limited his natural powers, however at least little Tsuki-chan could unseal it when necessary, though such occasions were rare. Say what you want about these humans, they were growing more effective rapidly...

He dresses silently in the clothes of a Tetagrammaton Cleric, wearing the starched priest collar shirt, as well as the long layered black coat, over which he pulls the harness in which hangs Kohroh and Seioh, two relics of the past in the form of curved katana swords. Many times Tsuki-chan had tried to explain to him the benefits of guns in combat, and while he endured tirelessly, something about the weapons sickened him. Their was simply no honor in killing from afar, better to have an enemy die looking into your eyes, knowing the instrument of his destruction, then have him die unaware of where that infernal bullet came from. Shaking his head at the thought, and dressed, he left his little room to begin the day's work. The Humans were having their morning meal, which usually left him sickened. His sense of smell was so fine tuned, that the appetizing smells they craved were usually mingled with dust, dead skin cells, and the different smells of the surfaces their food sat on. It was enough to turn him away from human meal times for even his unnaturally long life.

With measured steps he navigated the monastary, his path worn by memory and his thoughts elsewhere. The main library was open, with many windows and he rarely entered. Instead he lent his strength and memory to preserving the older volumes kept in the sealed back rooms. It was altogether more fascinating, as he was old enough to remember many of the times described, and oh how wrong they were described. Of course, far be it from a mere Methuselah to question the integrity of their tomes, however musty they may be. So he was content to observe quietly, occasionally telling little Tsuki-chan how things had 'really' been. His relationship with his handler was quite complicated, and sometimes troubling. Speaking of Tsuki, normally it would be nearing the time she would arrive, for another boring day of staring at pages and recording, preserving, moving said tomes... It seemed to never end, though as far as lifestyles that allowed him to ponder the natures of himself and the world around him, it could be alot worse.

Yeah, you just keep telling yourself that...

After all your living in a damned buffet with naught but dosages of blood suppuliments to pass the time. It was bound to get under anyone's skin.

However today was to be different, it was time for yet another silly human ritual, the boring ferrying of the dreaded briefcase. He rolled his eyes, unwilling to admit to himself that he was intrigued about its contents. Oh no, he wouldn't give the caretakers of fate the satisfaction of knowing that curisoty was burning within him. Oh well, he was never given the opportunity to be near it anyway, he just was along for the ride, to remain close to Tsuki-chan, as was his honor debt. He had already made his way to the aircraft, and was quietly sitting in the windowless cargo area when he smelled her arriving. He lounged on the cold floor, spinning the unsheathed blade of Kohroh, letting it catch the light absent mindedly as he stared into the mirror like surface of the blade. "You know, at times I think that you ask for this little assignment to get away from your boring little monastary. However then I remember how much you seem to love it there, and I can't help but ask why we must do this every 6 months." He says, as he sheathes the blade and sighs. "I would ask, you know, but im not to partial to your dear Mother Superior staking me out in the dawn like some disobediant mongrel." He says, before he gives a smile. "So I figured I might as well bother you about it, so that someone else can share my pain." He teases.

Cleric Kyle 'K' Eckes aka "Ghost": an oddly desensitized sniper with a rather odd outlook on life. when others were taking the Gunkata to heart memorizing there muscle movements to the styles of the art he developed his own adaptation to the style capable of being used with his rifle at close range if need been but mostly focusing in on predicting movements to pinpoint his targets exact point of entry. his nickname was derived form his tactful skills at killing targets before they even knew they were under attack.

K sat patiently, head slightly tilted to the left with an odd smile on his face. his eyes were wide as if he hadn't slept in days. when your a sniper all you can do is be a sniper. his eyes fixating on Tsukiko as if ready for the exact moment to fire. his right eye widens as if trying to zoom in to no effect. "I trust everything went as planned" he said with an oddly creepy tone keeping a smile on his face. she walks past him. it was no surprise. he wouldn't want to talk to him either if he didnt already, but thats another story.Seiryu follows her shortly after. no surprise there. the man follows her around as a loyal dog waiting for a treat that never comes in the hope that one will be waiting for him. he was a drainer. or was... hell K didnt know and didnt really care. he was the guy who noticed things. being a sniper means you are always watching.

A hint of a curled lower lip showed how his words affected her, just the barest hint of a pout. It was amazing how he knew exactly just how to push her buttons. "I do not! I mean.. I don't even choose my missions, you know that! I don't know why they keep sending me." She shrugs.

"Maybe they think I spend too much time around the books and feel that if I don't get out more, I'll just turn into paper myself." She had to control her instinct to stick her tongue out at him. The temptation to be childish around him was, at times, too strong to bear. Like an older brother, he had the amazing tallent of making her feel immature.

After a few moments, she faced him "Are you in guard duty now? I think I'll go do a quick round. I hate standing still. Check the surroundings, maybe memorize some faces."

Of course, the contents of the case had to be valuable, if they warranted an entire team of Special Circumstances. She should actually ask herself what was inside the case to ask for such protection. It had to be worthy of an entire kingdom if the protection it had was any clue.

He chuckles and stands in an easy motion, his dark coat blending in with the liquid cascade of black hair that hung loose and unrestrained to his shoulder blades. "Well, you know that they never give me orders like a 'normal' guard. However if you are so keen on getting a chance to stretch your legs, i'll play along." He says, that cocky self assured grin on his face as he drew one of the marvelous blades and put it through a blindingly fast pattern before bringing it up in a salute.

"I don't even have a rank, so I suppose I should just go with... Mr. Akatsuki, reporting for duty, ma'am." He says, raising a perfect eyebrow in that effortlessly casual way of his before he sheathes the blade in a liquid movement not even bothering to look, simply knowing exactly where to point the painful end. "Do try to hurry though, you know that I find most of your fellows frightfully boring... Although... The odd one is never boring, so think that I shall be suitably entertained for the next few moments." He says, his grey eyes focusing on the sniper for a moment.

"If you can, try to locate a package of peanuts for me... Its an old ritual you see." He says, speaking of the Earth that Was, where packets of salted peanuts had been traded like some obscure strange currency on the airlines of old... The value of a packet of peanuts was beyond him, however it was just another mostly useless fact he had picked up while reading the little cleric's books while otherwise bored out of his immortal mind.

K's eyes rapidly snap intro eyeing Seiryu as he asks for packaged peanuts. his smile widens. "you know they only used the porly developed snack as a means to manipulate the transported into thinking he was eating while on the trip. salt raises your blood pressure making rushing oxygen to your brain which in the right amounts can give you a glimpse of clarity which is aided but pressurizing pure oxygen into your cabin to make you feel calm and lucid therefore not objecting to the fact that you are in a cramp area breathing the sickness in that others are spreading around you while being housed in aluminum that could easily be penetrated by a can opener held together by small spot welds and rivets. the entire task is similar to making a metal toolbox out of sheet metal and then throwing it into the air. i suppose thats why they give you salt." he spited out quickly in one breath somehow smiling through the entire speech.

he sat silently as his head slowly began tilting to the left until nearly touching his shoulder. his silence was only shortly extended before his eyes narrowed. "i want some crackers." he finally said out loud before getting up form his seat. he then walked out of the door leading to the back of the ship.

Easy enough. Get on board a Vatican cruise ship. Hack the security system, take out security on the ship, 8 maybe 10 guards. Acquire the portfolio, get to the deck, access the mainframe and activate the self-destruction mode. Easy Enough. Nightmare was going over each of the steps of this mission, as he prepared his equipment. He was dressed in his usual black leather outfit. He stood up and put his black gabardine on. "20 million. It was a nice deal." He said as he passed a finger through the edge of his gun-blades. deadly sharp. "Ok, lets get some blood for you, my pretties." He said attaching them behind his back.

He walked through the base, they usually kept him there. He received his missions in envelopes and performed them to the letter, then he would return to the capital and hand the merchandise to his superiors in exchange for his payment. It was a rather good business and the life of a mercenary was something... idyllic. His white hair was carried by the wind, as the open to the hangar opened. He absent-mindedly continued walking to his CFA-44 Nosferatu, a deadly invisible small plane, that was perfect for approaching his targets. Nosferatu, the name of a vampire of the ancient times who struck fear into the hearts of man-kind, he was doing sort of the same thing.

"Welcome Nightmare." greeted the AI of the plane as Valizh sat down. Put his black leather gloves on. "Start engines, Nosferatu." He commanded with his cold, unmoved voice. The engines roaring as the AI took care of all take off procedures. "Permission Granted. We are ready to launch." biped the computer. Soon after the small plane was exiting the hangar, ready to bring down another of those vatican ships.

Tsukiko strolled quietly across the outer balcony of the large ship. Another thing that made no sense. If the briefcase was so important, why not take a normal fast ship? Why fly out of the monastery in an armoured vessel (which would be understandable, as it was in the Vatican's utmost interest to keep the location of their secrets secret) and then shift their precious cargo to a civilian vessel?

Was it because they were trying to distract or lose any possible threats? Threats that'd be on the lookout for Vatican ships and their precious content.... and would not think of finding it in a civilian cruiser.

Leaning against the railing, the contemplated the clouds below. The sky was very cloudy, which meant she didn't get a single glimpse of the earth below. It was strange, as if they were isolated from the rest of the wordl. It was oddly scary and relaxing at the same time.

Kyle hung by his knees off the railing upside down eating a cracker wehn Tsukiko came by. she much not have noticed him. he wouldn't notice himself either. well maybe he would. but that's just because he was a sniper. he noticed things. he looked up at her. "Cracker?" he asked wide eye holding a package of crackers up to her.

It was night already and the small plane disappeared between clouds and shadows. The radar have picked something a big cruise ship. Excellent, just what he was looking for. The radar pipped as the dot representing the ship got closer. "Target up ahead, initiating stealth mode." The AI informed before the plane dropped the speed and cloaked to eye and radar alike. This was a mission as easy as all the others. Go in there, kill everyone, go back home. The combat plane silently landed in the metallic roof of the ship. The cockpit opened and Nightmare got off the ship, he looked around for a moment, bored and opened the air-lock that leaded inside the ship. The corridor was empty.

"Now where is that security system..." He said to himself absent-mindedly while he looked around, he went through the door and covered behind the cooling system machine. There was a guard there, after making sure the camara was looking away, he started running towards him and jumped right as the guard started to turn around. Nightmare through himself at him breaking his neck 'snap!' The last expression of the guard being one of surprise and terror. However not fast enough to even make a sound. Nightmare grabbed his body and threw down the corridors, he stood there watching as the body disappeared in the bottomless fall.

He opened the next door, the security system in there. Three guards typing codes in the computers and watching the monitors. Issuing orders through the radio and checking the radar for approaching ship. He through a little capsule and closed the door waiting as the toxic gas started spreading, soon the sound of bodies hitting the floor were heard, it was the sign to go in. Nightmare came inside the room, satisfied with the sight. He pushed the body of the commander to the floor and seated down. Taking the keycard of the commander he sliced into the system, from there everything was pretty easy. His fingertips tapped the letters and numbers of the keyboard accessing to all the archives to find the location of his precious package. A grin appeared in his malicious yet beautiful lips, he now knew where to find it. typing a couple more codes, he made sure that the ship was in self-destruction mode, set out for blowing after 15 minutes, that's all the time he needed and to make sure that nobody would cancel out the explotion, he introduced a device into the main computer, passing every anti-virus in the system and burning the hardware in the security computer beyond repairing. The count-down however was still on its way.

Nightmare stood up and exited the door. "now... to find that package." He said as he jumped down from where he had thrown the body moment ago. Quickly grabbing the pipelines and moving with agility through them. Finally finding a maintenance passage. It was easy to go undetected that way, putting both hands in his pockets he continued down the narrow passage.

Kyle still hung off the edge when his eyes saw a man falling from the ship. it was a flunky in the cargo bay. Kyle smiled oddly wondering how the man could have found his way off the railing. he pulled himself up and bowed to Tsukiko. "i think its time for pie!" he said with an eager smile. kyle headed up to the upper deck where he made his quarters. though most people would rather sleep in the bunks, he liked the open view. it allowed him tio see everything around him. when your a sniper, vantage point is the key to knowing whats going on.

he sat on the balcony facing back over the ship polishing his rifle and at the rear of the ship something shiny caught his eye. his smile widened as he set the 50cal on the railing and peered through it to see a small ship attached to the back. just a few meters away was an open hatch. "Insects are big around here..." he said out loud lining up his shot. "Target!" he said in a strict tone. the nanomachines in his body recognized the commands and his vision focus into the smallest detail of the ship. "vile insect, god as he deemed you unworthy." he said pulling the trigger to fire three rounds into the cockpit shorting the controls and life support.

the ship didn't move and Kyles head tilted to the side still keeping his head in the sight. "your grip is no match for the wrath of god!" he shouts taking fire on the ships landing supports. the first shot cripples the electric actuator on the back support and the ship screeches as it slides off the hull and falls. "God rest your soul." he says calmly deactivating the the nanites.

Much to her shame, Tsukiko was caught unaware for a second or so, which was unforgivable for Special Circumstances. But she had just recently started to wonder about her connection to all of this, and why she always had to accompany the report package (she assumed it were reports -- of what, only God knew).

So when Kyle suddenly showed up in front of her, hanging from above like some brooding little monkey, she yelped and jumped back, her hand immediately going for one of her guns. Fortunately, a second after, she recognized him and released her fingers from the grip: "Good god, Kyle! Are you trying to get yourself shot?"
