Character Description (tell us what your character looks like):

Kato Machi is very short and petite for her age, standing at only 150 centimeters. Her hair is strangely red, considering the rest of her family has dark brown or black hair, and reaches just past her collarbone. Her skin is very light, porcelain almost, and stays pale no matter how much time she spends in the sun. Machi has odd hazel eyes that seem to change color every time you look at her.
Machi doesn't spend much time coordinating her next outfit, but she never fails to look cute. She is almost always wearing tall black socks that reach to the middle of her thigh. When she isn't wearing her uniform she prefers simple dresses or skirts.

Character Personality (how does your character thinks, reacts or acts):

Machi mostly keeps to herself, a product of her being so shy. When she does talk to you, however, she is very polite and friendly. She is curious about the night class, but somewhat frightened by their mysterious aura.
Machi blames herself for her sister's death. If she hadn't been there, she thought, they would have saved her sister instead. Because of this she thinks of herself as selfish, even though she always puts others before herself.
Machi is clumsy and absent minded. She sometimes finds herself daydreaming during class or suddenly forgets where she is at and why only to realize a moment later.

Character Background (your character history before s\he joined the Academy):

Machi lived a relatively normal life in her early years. She was preparing to attend a finishing school for ladies with her elder sister when she turned sixteen. This all changed when her sister, and her parents oldest child, perished in a terrible fire. Her parents were so upset that they sent Machi to Cross Acadamy while they got over their grief.

What are your character's special skills and unusual abilities (if you're human) or your powers (if you're vampire)? Please keep this at least somewhat faithful to VK canon, don't start making up powers that would completely make no sense in the series.

Machi is talented at singing, although she would never sing in front of other people.

How does your character feel about her\his vampiric state (if you're vampire) or How would your character react if s/he was turned into a vampire (if you're human)?

If Machi was turned into a vampire she would be in complete and total shock. She would miss her classmates in the Day Class, but would be satisfied that she has finally known the cause for her fear of the Night Class. Machi would be disgusted by her want of blood and hatred of daytime.

Machi's family includes her mother, father, and deceased elder sister, Kyoumi.

Machi was asleep in her and her sister's shared room when she heard someone shouting. "Machi! Kyoumi!"
Machi sat up and rubbed her eyes, trying to rid the haze that covered the room. When she blinked them open it was still there. She kept listening and heard a deep, stern voice say, "Miss, you need to get out."
"My daughters are up there!" It was her father who shouted.
Machi got out of her bed and went to rouse her sister sleeping across the room. "Kyoumi," she said, "wake up!"
"Whats going on?" her sister said sleepily.
That was when Machi saw the flames licking under the doorway. "Kyoumi! There's a fire! Come on" she yelled.
"What?" Kyoumi shouted as she jumped out of bed. Machi ran to the door and mistakenly grabbed the handle.
"Ow!" Machi exclaimed, pulling her hand away. Kyoumi pushed past her and opened the door with a towel.
"Go!" Kyoumi ordered to Machi.
"But-" Machi tried to protest but was cut off.
"Just GO!" Kyoumi pushed her into the hallway and followed her closely behind.
As Machi stumbled into the hallway smoke quickly filled her lungs, her breath came in shallow rasps. Her eyes stung and she could no longer see. Flames licked at her feet burning her legs and arms. She tripped down the stairs banging her head on the stair railing.
She felt someone grab her, lifting her up off the burning ground. "Sister!" Machi croaked, "We have to save my sister! She's still... in... there..." But her voice was too hoarse. That was the last thing she remembered before she blacked out.

When Machi woke up everything stung. She reached for the IV pumping oxygen into her blood.
"Hey, little girl. Don't touch that," she heard a nurse say.
"Where's my sister?" Machi asked.
"Your sister... She didn't... Well... She passed away in the fire."
"What? No! She couldn't have! She was right behind me!" Machi stood up, ripping the IV out of her arm. Tears welled up in her eyes and spilled over.
"Whoa, whoa. Sit back down. You've suffered a minor concussion, you hit your head when you fell down the stairs."
"How can you say that when my sister just DIED?" Machi yelled. She ran out of the room in only her hospital gown.
