The girl slowly counted on her fingers. "One...two...three...four..." She stopped, crying quietly. "I'm really sorry. I can count, I just lost count of all those days."

What were they to her? Memories of those days of joy? Or of pain? You decide.

**I will be adding more info on each section as I RP. I will start adding more about her when people find out things about her in RP.**

Haine Pictures, Images and Photos

Naoko's light brown hair falls down to her waist. Her hair usually changes styles to whatever her mood is. She's quite tall, standing at 5 feet and 10 inches. Her weight is 115 pounds, making her skinny. She has full lips and rosy and healthy looking cheeks. Her large, vulnerable looking eyes are a brilliant golden. Not the type of golden eyes that stare at you and make you freeze where you are, but the warm and gentle kind of golden that makes you want to know her. They can change colors depending on how the light reflects it. At times, her eyes can change and no longer look vulnerable, but angry and fierce. Her features are perfect, making her a beauty.

A thing about her name. Naoko, meaning "honest child." Naoko is what her name tells everyone, a honest child who does not lie. She may be a great actor at times, but not when it's a lie. When lying, she usually looks away or looks guilty. But her name also has powerful meaning. She never seems to realize it, but she can easily tell if someone is lying to her, 9 times out of 10.

Her wardrobe has a variety of clothing. Depending on her mood or when the situation asks for it, she can always pull out the perfect outfit. She is very open-minded about clothing and has just about anything you can name.

She goes by Nao with her close friends. When she decides that you are finally a good friend of hers, she will tell you to call her Nao. Being a good friend of hers doesn't take long. She makes friends easily, but they don't like her in the end because of her unusual likes and dislikes and how she acts.

Naoko can be quite a klutz. At times, she can trip over her own feet if she's dazed enough. Unusual cracks in the sidewalk can trip her easily. Sometimes, when she's multitasking like talking to someone, she becomes unobservant, rendering the "Watch Your Step" signs useless.

She has a thing for vampires. She loves reading about them and has a lot of knowledge about the myths. Naoko has wished that vampires were real all her life. She finds vampires intimidating, but beautiful and powerful. She thinks that if she one day meets one, she may change how people think of vampires. Good, not evil. Naoko thinks that they are not evil, but caring creatures whose love lives forever.

The one thing that she doesn't know is that she has terrible blood. Vampires don't bite her because her blood smells like really strong onions, burning their eyes if they get near her when she's bleeding. Her blood also tastes terrible. It has a bitter taste that would make any vampire cringe, though when she sometimes takes a lick at her wounds, she finds her own blood tasty.

Her birthday is January 1st, and she just turned 15. She's a first year at Cross Academy.
Character Personality (how does your character thinks, reacts or acts):
Her face, the way she holds it, her smile, immediately tells you she does not like sadness. The corners of her mouth rarely turn down because of sadness.

How she acts- She acts very strangely, as people put it. Some people avoid her because they think she is psycho, which she isn't. Your first impression of her is that she's shy. But once she finally accepts you as a friend, she becomes more sociable. She can be a great comedian at times, with her jokes or her antics. If a fight comes up with her friend and someone she doesn't know, she usually stays out of it until she thinks that it's gone too far and she needs to fight for her friend. She can be very stubborn, yet she is flexible about a lot of things. At times, when she is arguing with someone, she can be harsh and her words can cut deep.

How she thinks- She has a pure and innocent heart and mind, simple thinking. She fights for what she believes is right. Naoko can easily get confused for what she is fighting for because sometimes she thinks too in depth. She is sensitive yet strong. She will cry over the slightest thing that can move her, yet she will fight to the end to protect something or someone precious to her. When arguing, she tends to make what she say move you. Most of her words can hit target. As if she can see through your soul.

Likes- Naoko loves the cold. At the table, she eats in large amounts, making people wonder where it all goes. She loves ice cream and anything that's cold. Surprisingly, her favorite color is black. She likes little charms that she can put on her possessions. She can be a jokester, so she can enjoy a good joke or two. Naoko is very into helping her enviroment, so she does everything she can to help. She also loves vampire stories and vampires, though she doesn't know they exist.

Dislikes- She hates some very strange things, making people think that she is a freak. She hates spiders. Especially the gruesome ones. She hates loud irritating noises. She gets quite embarrassed when she has to mention that she doesn't like the vacuum all that much. Goes with the loud noise. She dislikes fights to the point where she will cry, even though it does not even involve her. But she understands very well that sometimes that you have to rise and fight for what you want to protect. She can't sleep at night when told even a small scary story. She hates being left alone. She hates violence and arguing.

Fears- Naoko has a lot of pretty crazy fears. She fears dolls, the ones that were made to look like humans and can talk when you press a button. She hates scary movies, she can't deal with it. She fears the dark, and being left alone. Most of her dislikes are also fears. She fears spiders and snakes. She doesn't really fear boys, but she is alert when one is around. Naoko can get scared very easily by the slightest thing and those rape stories she had heard all her life make her shiver in fear.

How she reacts- Naoko is very open-minded about everything. If, for instance, you tell her you're bi when she always though you were straight, she wouldn't sweat it at all. She'll still accept you for who you are. When someone tells her something sad, it depends on how bad she thinks it is before she cries. She considers herself a crybaby a lot because someone will tell her they're dog died and she would cry a bucket of tears for them. When happy, she becomes more of a comedian with what she does, most of the time not intentionally. When angry, she will go silent and her eyes become downcast. Most of the time it is silent treatment for an hour. The longest silent treatment she has ever given was only less than 24 hours. She doesn't stay mad long. In a fight or an argument, she becomes serious and focused, as if she was trying to read you to get more things to say to cut you.
Character Background (your character history before s\he joined the Academy):
Most of her personality is defined by her background. Here is the tragic past of a cheerful girl, her fears, dislikes, likes, and personality defined by what killed her on the inside. (Told in her view.)

My parents hated me, and each other. The only reason they got married and had me was because of, as they call it, false love. They never really loved each other, only getting married in the spur of the moment, thinking that they would be together forever. A teenager's thinking. After Mother had me, she became a drunk. As I grew older, about 4 or 5 years old, Father didn't drink as much, but they always fought and Mother would take her anger out on me, since taking it out on my father wasn't enough. Eventually, he didn't even try to help me. My mother was merciless. She kicked me, slapped me around, and pulled my hair. Father watched, saying nothing. I hated my mother for what she did, but I hated Father more for not doing anything at all.

At the age of 6, Mother blew. For the past few years of my small and short life, she had beaten me until I could no longer move. This time, she thought that physical action weren't enough. She wanted to enjoy mental fear. She pulled me out of my room, where I was hiding. It was the middle of the night, so I thought she would be drinking. But she had already drank her fill, making her crazily drunk. She pulled me to the closet and shut me in there, a simple torture. I screamed, breaking off into sobs when I heard the click of the lock. I heard a hiss in the farthest corner away from me, and I freezed. After what felt like an eternity, but was actually a second, I screeched a blood curdling cry and scrambled away from the snake. I stayed away from the snake, stayed alert, for the whole night. Mother left me here for the night. In the morning, I recieved my punishment for being so loud at night.

*And that's how her fear of the dark and snakes came to be.

At the age of seven, I became very independent. Mother was very drunk and decided that she was going to torture me again this time. Somehow, she got some tarantulas and kept them in a little box. She called me out of my bedroom, asking in one of her silky voices to do something for me. I instantly got scared, knowing that voice. The voice that told me that something bad was coming. But I couldn't disobey her, less I got something worse than what she had in mind. She opened the box and laid it on its side, letting the spiders crawl out towards me. I gave a loud whimper, making Mother snap at me, threatening to shove one down my throat if I didn't stay quiet through it. I kept quiet, crying a steady stream down my face. Mother laughed hysterically in delight, enjoying my torture, seeing me cry. After awhile, she fell asleep, leaving me with the spiders still crawling over me. Steadily, and forcing myself to not run out the door, I got out of the house and somehow got the spiders off of me. I ran through the house quietly, not waking Mother, and closed the door to the bathroom. I stripped down and turned the water to searing hot, slipping under the hot rain, trying to erase the feeling from my skin. I violently convulsed from the fear of the hairy legs crawling all over me, lightly touching my skin, searing the places it touched with fear. After trying to cleanse the fear off of myself, I locked the bedroom door, refusing to eat or leave my room.

*And that's how her fear of spiders came to be.

At the age of nine, my elementary school teacher, Kotomo-sensei, discovered my wounds. For gym, I always changed in the showers, and wearing long sweats and sleeves to cover up the evidence. I knew I should've told someone, but I could never get the courage to do it. I was ashamed of what Mother did to me. But I was late for gym, so no one was in the locker room. I decided since no one will see me, I took the chance to actually change in the open. I felt exposed, but it was fun being normal. Humming quite loudly to myself, I didn't hear Kotomo-sensei come in. She was curious, wondering who was humming so happily. She walked right into me changing. Kotomo-sensei stood in shock, her hand over her mouth, looking at my wounds. I stood there, having stopped at mid-pull to get my shirt on. I quickly pulled it down and went over to the teacher, begging her not to tell. She refused, immediately calling the police.
Everything happened in a whir after that. Mother got arrested, and so did Father for not doing anything. In the end, Kotomo-sensei took me in, adopting me as her daughter. And caring for me as one.

*And this is the beginning of her new life. But that doesn't mean it was a very good new life.

At the age of 12, Kotomo-sensei, who I call Mom now, changed schools, working at a different place now. I was in middle school, and I wasn't making any friends. I was silent, and a bit cold. Until I met Sorako. She was cheerful, an upbeat person. Someone who held me up in times of sorrow. From time to time, against what I want, Kotomo-sensei made me call Mother. They usually end with her yelling at me, cursing me, asking why I did that. I never answered and eventually they got her off the phone. These phonecalls always made me depressed, but there was Sorako, always willing to listen and comfort me. She understood everything, as if she had the same experience. We were the best of friends in about a semester's time. We always did everything together. Together, we made the team that everyone knew us by, "Honest Skies." One day, I came in with a crushing feeling. Mother had been harsher with her words, cutting me down to the core. I cried endlessly, until sleep claimed me. Sorako comforted me, dealing with my babbling. As looked at her, I could find a pained expression on her face for a split second. I didn't make a bit of sense out of it, continuing to cry. But it made since the next day.

Sorako wasn't at school. I began to worry, wondering why she would miss a day of school. She never did. She always came to school, no matter what. But as school let out, my teacher pulled me aside, tears brimming her eyes. I looked at her worriedly, knowing it was something about Sorako. The only reason she would pull me aside was for something about Sorako or school, but I knew my school work was getting done. She knew me and Sorako could never get seperated, ever. Shakily, she explained the most shocking news of my life. Sorako had been beaten to death by her father. Her father had been so drunk that he took the empty bottle and striked her over the head, making her bleed and eventually die because of the shock and the strike. And he didn't just strike her once, he striked as many times as he felt like it. I found myself on the floor, screaming that blood curdling scream I screamed when I was 6. I cried, thinking about all the good times and how they would never come back. Sorako had been so cheerful, so happy, never telling anyone about her problems, about the beatings she took every night, about her father and his abusive side. She didn't even tell me.

As I got done crying, the teacher pulled me up and drove me home. As I got in the house, Mom was there, waiting for me. I was late, and she was worried. When she looked upon my face, she shocked for a split second before coming over to give me a hug, hoping to hold me together. I cried silently this time, letting it run down in a silent trickle. I made a promise to myself at that very moment that, no matter what, I would be cheerful about everything, and never let anyone get worried over me. Like Sorako. She was so strong.

That night, and every night after that for a week, I dreamed of her death, waking up whimpering each time. They were horrible, making me cry over and over. For the next month, I lived on, staying silent and frozen in shock. Mom comforted me as much as she could, but that didn't help. But one night, I got a dream that changed me the next morning. I dreamed of Sorako, but she was there, not dying, but living, and talking to me. She touched my cheek, pleading with me to keep living and be strong. Her hand slowly moved away, and she herself slowly dissapeared. I reached out, but got nothing. My eyes flew open, and I sat up quickly. I cried again, silently as always, as to not wake up Mom. This time, as I cried, I made the strongest vow that I have ever made, that I would be strong. For her. I would be strong for her. I laid back down, tears streaming down my face. I cried myself to sleep, dreaming of nothing.

When I woke up, I cheered up and kept on going with my life, and being strong, for Sorako.

*And this is how she came to be who she is.
What are your character's special skills and unusual abilities (if you're human) or your powers (if you're vampire)? Please keep this at least somewhat faithful to VK canon, don't start making up powers that would completely make no sense in the series.
Naoko has several unusual abilities that helped her along in life.

Her name, Naoko, means "honest child." She can't lie, and she can tell if your lying 9 out of 10 times. White lies are harder, but she can still pick it up.

When in a argument or fight, she can stare into your eyes and find your sorrow. For example, she can tell if your past was of abuse or bullying or a bad household. She can't tell you the details but she can tell that you a certain kind of past. She looks into your eyes, finding a certain kind of sadness in there. She somehow uses this to her advantage when she wants you to back off. She can say the things that hit the target and cut you. She gets the words from years of listening to her mother on the phone.

From years of abuse, she started to get another personality. Her other personality, which she does not know is there, is strong and cruel. Her cruel side rarely comes out. This side of her is fierce with her words, cutting worse than Naoko herself. She is condescending and fierce. When a fight is going on, when Naoko starts to cut you, that is her other side emerging slightly. Naoko knows what she is saying, but she thinks that she is only saying it out of anger, which she is, not her other cruel side coming out a bit and helping her. The ability to figure out a person's sadness is most likely Naoko's other side's ability.

Without her knowing, she is basically immune to vampire powers, but to a certain limit. She is absolutely protected in the mind. Any mental attack directed at her cannot be executed. Only Purebloods and the Headmaster are powerful enough to erase her memories. She treasures her own privacy very much and detests the idea of having someone in her mind, making her mental shield strong with those thoughts. If one were to take over her mind and control her, or read her mind, it could not be done.

I would not consider this a skill or ability of any kind, but it's something unusual that most humans won't have. She had bitter tasting blood, making vampires run from her when she's very interested in them. Her blood makes vampire's eyes react to them like onions do: They make the vampire's eyes water slightly. Her blood smells off, different from humans. However, when she gives her wounds a lick, it tastes like all other human's blood. Vampires seem to be the only ones who can tell her blood is different.

She has an unusual thing for coincidences, that that has helped her in life too. Naoko has saved herself from almost getting hit by a car. She gets an odd feeling at times, and it's usually her instincts kicking in to tell her that she could be in danger any minute.

Naoko can get strange dreams at times, and sometimes they're normal dreams. But her dreams can always somehow predict the future. The normals ones are exact visions, and the strange ones hold a certain meaning. She has never dreamed anything frightening, so the visions are only dreams of something interesting for the next day or sometime soon. Sometimes she falls asleep thinking about something and strange dreams hold the answers, but it's up to her to interpret it. She's well aware of this ability of hers, and enjoys it very much.

Naoko also has very strong observing skills. She has very good memory, so she can make easy connections. She can easily identify twins or people in disguise because she notices several small things that connect to the person she knows. She can relate it to absolutely anything, whether it's something the person said, do, or looks like. People are very surprised to find that she's so observant, since they're used to her happy-and-oblivious personality.
How does your character feel about her\his vampiric state (if you're vampire) or How would your character react if s/he was turned into a vampire (if you're human)?
She would probably be very shocked about the change, but to hold onto her vow, she would be strong and endure it. Also, she would probably love it at the same time. She has always had this crazy interest in vampires, and being one sounds like a very good idea to her.

Other Character Information (hobbies, quirks, and other random information) OPTIONAL:
**Under Construction**~

Naoko enjoys track. Her one favorite thing is running. She gets quite into it, so she rarely trips. She may be clumsy, but her running is amazing. She's a pretty fast runner, and she can keep up with anyone for a long period of time. When it comes to any other sports, she can't do it. She can't catch for the life of her, and she's okay in soccer.

While Naoko may seem like the type of person who could handle a baby, but you should never judge a book by it's over. She has a hard time baby sitting, and babies cry when they see her. Now she stays away from babies as much as possible, and try to interact with them as little as possible.

- is taking French.
Sample Roleplay: (Provide a well written sample roleplay about your character. The sample has to be at least two paragraphs or more, this shows us how well you can roleplay and know that you are fit for this character if you're applying for a canon character.)
Naoko did her usual first-day-of-school routine nervously. "The uniform's okay, I guess," she said to herself, looking at herself in the full mirror. She grabbed her black stockings, which matched her uniform, and pulled them over her knees. She went over to her closet and pulled out her brown boots and slipped them on. Naoko walked over to her desk and picked up her watch, wrapping it around her wrist and securing it there. She checked the time, and mumbling about being late, hurriedly tied her hair up. Unlike her old school, where girls had ties and boys had ribbons, it was the other way around. She took out the extra ribbon she asked for before school started and reached behind to fix her hair. She tied up half of her hair messily, her typical school day hairstyle. Once that was done, she grabbed her school bag and ran out of the Sun Dorms and headed for the classrooms.

When she finally found her classroom, Naoko stayed near the back of the room, picking a seat near the window. She strayed near the window, picking the seat closest to the window. Naoko sat staring out the window in the closest seat to the window on the third to last row. As class started, she continued to stare out the window, hoping that something interesting would come up.
