Character Description (tell us what your character looks like):

Rei is tall, much like the rest of the members of her family. She stands just around five feet nine inches tall, she blames this height entirely on her long legs and thirteen years of every kind of dancing style known to man. She is aged nineteen but is only in her first year of cross academy, due to her being deaf until she was three. Her amber coloured hair is something that only she has within the family. It reaches her upper thigh and she normally has it tied back. Her fringe sweeps just past her long eyelashes and hidden behind are a pair of stunning emerald green eyes. She can often be seen wearing the Cross Academy day class uniform or a pale coloured top along with a pair of jeans.

Character Personality (how does your character thinks, reacts or acts):

Rei is a cuddly, playful and extremely outspoken, well more blatant than outspoken. She’s very laidback and has learned not to take herself or life too seriously. Life to her is more interesting this way. She can be a bit eccentric and erratic when she needs to be but most of the time she tends to keep herself to herself. She Isn’t shy in the slightest and is awfully friendly and gentle. Its in her nature to act like an older sister or even a mother to almost everyone. She hates being lied to but she lives on the saying ‘everybody lies.’
She loves hugging or being hugged, particularly by those taller than herself. She can get very hyper at times, when she see’s someone or something cute, or even if she just sees one of her all time favourite sweets.
She writes a lot and draws even more. She’s hardly ever seen without a pen, pencil or paper. When Rei isn’t writing or drawing she’s either mammy-ing someone or else she has her head in the clouds again.
She’s quite a dreamy girl but doesn’t think of romance all that often but that’s not to say she doesn’t think of it at all. Rei wouldn’t mind being in love but her instincts tell her that her ever fragile heart will be broken in the end, and so she never bothers.
She’s extremely intelligent and astute. She never leaves any rock unturned, and she has sharpened her eyes to pick up even the tiniest of details in a picture just in case there’s a hidden meaning. She’s good with riddles and paradoxes and can almost always tell if someone is lying.
Her curiosity and stubbornness irritates most to no end. Rei is very animated while she’s talking to someone. She moves her hands around a lot and tends to change the octave in her tone as if she’s putting on a small performance. She can be very entertaining to talk to and as a result a lot of people like her.
Though as nice as she is, she finds it very difficult to trust others as a result of her past. She likes to pretend to be friendly with people just to keep them happy but she has yet to make a true friend.
Sometimes she can sometimes be cruel but of course this is only if she has to be. But when the time does come she can be a real piece of work. Her temper isn’t lost easily but when she does loose it, its not a very good idea to be near her.
More often than not she’s seen on her own, reading or again, day dreaming.
Rei is no coward but is frightened of a few things. Mainly things that come without warning, like lightning or fire. She’s deathly afraid of water due to her lack of knowledge on how to swim. Spiders, blood or bugs mean nothing to her and she find it funny when girls scream or squirm around such things.
She’s easily amused and is hardly ever seen without a smile.

Character Background (your character history before s\he joined the Academy):

Rei was born on the thirteenth of November during the winter storm of nineteen ninety. She couldn’t hear anything but murmurs, but whereas the sounds of life were unheard to her, her imagination couldn’t have been louder. And then the music of life was given to her by a doctor at the age of three. Bit by bit she learned how to communicate with others. Soon, she found that there was a place for all of her adventures and characters within something called ‘books’

She started school at the age of seven and always stood taller than all the students in her class. She was often teased for being older than everyone and only starting school. It was during those times she learned how to stand on her own two feet and stand up to such people. After all, she was older than them, stronger too.
When she was thirteen, she encountered a corrupt level C vampire. Of course, being naïve as she was at that time did as the handsome man asked and showed him to wherever it was he needed to go. She doesn’t remember much, all she remembers is being lied to. Being bitten and then she was thrown in a river, in a desperate attempt to kill her and keep his dirty little secret safe.

She somehow survived but never spoke of that incident and pretends that it never happened. Though by now she has taught herself to tell the difference between a vampire and a human. Also, she has noticed that not all of them are ‘monsters’ as such and has learned to live with them.

She lives with her family of twelve, two rats and three cats (if you count the stray one she feeds) up in the mountains surrounding cross academy.
She is the oldest of them and often had to look after her younger siblings as well as her ill mother. This was where she picked up her motherly instincts. Mornings were always hectic for her, and eventually her aunt and uncle offered to look after her siblings and sent her to Cross Academy to study properly as she often had to skip school to help at home.

What are your character's special skills and unusual abilities (if you're human) or your powers (if you're vampire)? Please keep this at least somewhat faithful to VK canon, don't start making up powers that would completely make no sense in the series.

Rei has sharp eyes and an even sharper mind. She has an astounding ability to dance and is very flexible, though she can’t play any kind of proper sport to save her life.
She can balance a spoon on her nose for a whole hour and can balance a stack of books on her head while walking even longer.
She’s a great actress and takes joy in pretending to cry just to see how others react. As a result of her aptitude to act she can put herself is someone else’s shoes easily.
She’s extremely unorganised but somehow that’s how she works best.

Vampire? She wouldn’t mind being a vampire if she had to but otherwise she’s happy enough being a human.

Rei has no set goals as such, maybe...falling in love? Or world peace. Really she has no idea.

+ Rei can speak Mandarin Chinese quite well as a result of her Chinese relatives not knowing how to speak Japanese (or any other language for that matter.)

+ She took dancing and violin for a while but gave it up to look after her siblings, however when ever she had a spare moment she did try to practice both.

+ Her hearing isn’t the best but she can see things very well and almost never misses even the tiniest of details.

+ Rei loves singing though she doesn’t sing all that often.

+ She tends to have an urge to cuddle someone, usually someone ‘cute’.

Rei finally flopped onto her bed after a good sixteen hours of work, she was completely exhausted. Sure, that’s how she felt at the end of every day. Looking after her eleven siblings all day long, and even when they were all gone to school there was a lot of house work to do. She only now understood how much work her mother had to do on a daily basis. And even back when she couldn’t hear it must have been much worse for her, but now. Rei could hear the soft breeze rustling the leaves outside the small house, and the electric hum of the fridge just outside her bedroom. There wasn’t a moment in the day she didn’t thank god she was given her hearing. Some days she took it for granted but that was just in human nature.
Then she wondered, could vampires be born deaf, blind, or something. Perhaps, perhaps not. She would never know unless she met another vampire, hopefully less viscous than the last one.
She could still feel the peaceful stillness of the cold water, and the turmoil within her as she tried to swim up to get that air she desperately needed. She would never forget that.
A whine from the room next to her caused her to jolt back into action, but it was too late. Soon there was a crescendo of whinges and complaints.
She would be leaving all of this tomorrow, half of her was glad and the other half felt a bit sad having to leave all of this. Sure it was frantic but it was fun all the same and she had made many memories.

In the end, all eleven of them ended up somehow sleeping with Rei in her bed. It was almost always how that ended and half the time they slept in their own beds. Even the eldest after Rei, Hibari slept with the rest of them, saying there was no point sleeping on her own, when in reality she was the one who started this whole sleeping beside Rei trend. Not that Rei minded in the least, she loved being hugged or hugging someone else.
She would miss nights like this and saw herself being very lonely for the first few days in Cross Academy but soon she would be fine and of course she would come home and visit during the holidays when she could. Smiling to herself, Rei shut her eyes as she drifted off to sleep.
